I listen. I paint. 360°
What's behind the project?
When listening to music, people are filled with emotions - joy, frustration, love, sorrow, freedom, a zest for life... audiopingo360 aims to make these emotions visible.
What kind of music is playing?
Various genres of electronic music are playing - breakbeat, downtempo, house, techno, trance, drum and bass - broadcast through the secret club’s massive sound system. Not at party volume, of course.
Where is the painting taking place?
On the fleece-covered Gate7 floor stand easels holding stretched canvases - four per participant, arranged in a 360-degree circle. Each artist is provided with 18 acrylic paints, a mixing palette, and a set of brushes. The ambient lighting remains white but is dimmed, while slowly moving lights cast beams through a gentle mist, spreading across the room. The frenzy begins. Brushes in hand, the artists move to the music, spinning, unleashing their emotions, letting loose. Or they stand perfectly still, deep in concentration. Anything is possible. What kind of artworks will emerge? Well, that is for you to discover.
Who is painting?
The aim is to cover the broadest possible spectrum of artists with widely varying levels of knowledge in the field of visual arts. Participation is open to anyone aged 16 and over.
What happens after the project?
Twelve artworks measuring 50 x 70 cm will be created during each session, resulting in a total of 60 works produced over the course of two days. Following the project, the pieces will be exhibited at a vernissage along the many long walls of the "Geheimclub" - during reasonable opening hours, naturally. In addition, the images and a "making-of" feature will be made available online. The artworks will be donated in full to "Kulturpark Ost e.V." to be auctioned off; 100% of the proceeds will be used to fund new, interdisciplinary cultural initiatives. Culture creates culture.
What is the aim of the project?
Long-outdated barriers between cultural spheres are intended to crumble. The goal is to combine different artistic disciplines so that people engage with subculture - people who otherwise likely would never have found their way into a techno club.
How much does participation cost?
Participation in the project is free of charge; registration and confirmation are mandatory.
Who is funding the project?
Funding is provided by the Geheimclub.
